Crocodiles of the World in Oxfordshire

We visited this place last week and I would like you to meet George the African Spurred Tortoise -

I also have photo's of some crocs if anyone wants to see.  I cant recommend a visit to this place enough, did you see the serise last year on TV, Shaun Foggett and his family have invested all he has into this to educate this country but also breed/keep endangered breeds.

Hi Karin,

Thanks for posting that!  I nearly went there a couple of weeks ago -- my grandson was staying with me and I thought he'd love it, but we had so much planned that we never got there.  I hadn't heard very much about it and wasn't sure how good it would be, so thanks for the recommendation and I'll definitely go now (and I never knew they had tortoises too, so that's a bonus).  I live in Oxford and if I remember it's somewhere near Witney, so really close.

Cheers,
Nina

Hi Nina,

Witney yes, tortoises no - just the one.  Oh and if you choose to go outside of the school holidays, they are only allow to open on a Sunday.  Part of the Dangerous Animals Act or something.  He would love to be a zoo but needs more funding and a bigger premises.

I emailed before I went and they are super friendly.  Here is the site - http://www.crocodilesoftheworld.co.uk/

I loved it but it is only small and I am heavily into the rare and unusual.

I'd seen the website when I was thinking of going, but because I hadn't heard anything (either good or bad) about it, it sort of became a lower priority (I think we went to Warwick Castle instead).  It sounds like just the sort of place I would like -- not too big and with interesting animals.  So do you live in the area (which means we're practically neighbours)?Click and drag me down to the editor
