Nectarine (Fruit)

 Feed Sparingly
  • Common Name: Nectarine (Fruit)
  • Latin Name: Prunus persica, var. nectarina
  • Family Name: Rosaceae
Nectarines are really just smooth-skinned peaches, and not all species of tortoises and turtles are fruit eaters.  Therefore, only offer this fruit as a small part of the diet once you have checked that your tortoise or turtle is a fruit eater.

Non-fruit-eating species are not equipped to deal with the sugars present in this fruit and can suffer intestinal problems if they eat it.

Nectarine stones contain cyanide and should therefore be avoided.

Flowers are usually pink but white varieties do exist.
