Spring Starflower (Ipheion)

 Do not Feed
  • Common Name: Spring Starflower (Ipheion)
  • Latin Name: Ipheion uniflorum
  • Family Name: Amaryllidaceae and Alliaceae
This spring-flowering bulb from the Allium and Amaryllis families (it is listed in both) has foliage that produces an onion-like scent when crushed and very fragrant flowers.  It is said to be unpalatable to deer and squirrels, and so adhering to the general rule that plants grown from bulbs are not suitable for tortoises we recommend that you do not feed this plant.
