The berries, which come in white, black or red, are the most poisonous part of this plant, but all parts are toxic and should be avoided near tortoise enclosures.  Baneberry contains ranunculine and protoanemonin, and if ingested could cause symptoms such as contact dermatitis, dizziness, nausea, rapid heart rate, and possible cardiac arrest and death.
