This plant, which is closely related to the snowdrop,  contains the alkaloids gallanthamine and lycorine and can cause diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps, so one to avoid.  See also Snowdrop.  

 Although a cultivated plant it can often be found growing in the coutryside (garden escapee).
