Russian Vine (Mile-a-Minute, Mile a Minute)

 Do not Feed
  • Common Name: Russian Vine (Mile-a-Minute, Mile a Minute)
  • Latin Name: Fallopia baldschuanica (Polygonia baldschuanica)
  • Family Name: Polygonaceae

Like other members of the Polygonaceae family, Russian Vine is high in oxalates which often take the form of sharp crystals (raphides).  These can cause irritation to the mouth, throat and digestive system and may also contribute to the formation of bladder and kidney stones, so avoid feeding this plant to your tortoise.

Also, beware that if the vine is growing within reach of your tortoise then it can become a good escape ladder for any budding Houdini.
